Abstract: Treatment of deprotonated N,N'-bis-(4-methyl-2-benzothiazolyl)-2,6-pyridicarboxamide (L2-) with CuCl2·2H2O yields the mononuclear title complex, CuL(H2O) or [Cu(C23H15N5O2S2)(H2O)]. The CuII atom adopts a distorted square-planar coordination geometry, binding to two deprotonated amide N atoms, the pyridine N atom and the water O atom. In the crystal structure, weak C-H
O and C-H
S hydrogen bonds, and C-H
and
-
interactions stabilize the crystal structure.
