Aqua[N,N'-bis(4-methyl-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamidato(2-)]copper(II)

S.-G. Liu, C.-L. Ni and Y.-Z. Li

Abstract: Treatment of deprotonated N,N'-bis-(4-methyl-2-benzothiazolyl)-2,6-pyridicarboxamide (L2-) with CuCl2·2H2O yields the mononuclear title complex, CuL(H2O) or [Cu(C23H15N5O2S2)(H2O)]. The CuII atom adopts a distorted square-planar coordination geometry, binding to two deprotonated amide N atoms, the pyridine N atom and the water O atom. In the crystal structure, weak C-H...O and C-H...S hydrogen bonds, and C-H...[pi] and [pi]-[pi] interactions stabilize the crystal structure.
