Aqua[N,N'-bis(4-methyl-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamidato(2-)]copper(II)

Abstract: Treatment of deprotonated N,N'-bis-(4-methyl-2-benzothiazolyl)-2,6-pyridicarboxamide (L^2-) with CuCl₂·2H₂O yields the mononuclear title complex, CuL(H₂O) or [Cu(C₂₃H₁₅N₅O₂S₂)(H₂O)]. The Cu^II atom adopts a distorted square-planar coordination geometry, binding to two deprotonated amide N atoms, the pyridine N atom and the water O atom. In the crystal structure, weak C-HO and C-HS hydrogen bonds, and C-H and - interactions stabilize the crystal structure.
