N3)cadmium(II)]-
-cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylato] dihydrate]Abstract: In the title compound, {[Cd(C8H10O2)(C4H6N2)2]·2H2O}n, each CdII atom is six-coordinated by two N atoms from two 2-methyl-1H-imidazole (mi) molecules and four O atoms from two cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylate (1,4-chdc) ligands in a distorted octahedral environment. The asymmetric unit consists of two independent mononuclear complex units and two solvent water molecules. Each 1,4-chdc acts as a bis-chelating ligand that binds two CdII atoms, thus forming two unique helical chains. These chains are decorated with mi ligands alternately on the two sides. Furthermore, O-H
O and N-H
O hydrogen bonds link the chains together, forming a three-dimensional supramolecular structure. There are weak
-
interactions between mi ligands in neighbouring chains at (x, y, z) and (-x, -y, 2 - z), with an interplanar distance of 3.62 (2) Å.
