A two-dimensional Co^II coordination polymer with the ligand 1,1'-bis[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methyl]ferrocene

Abstract: In the title polymer, poly[[aquabis{₂-1,1'-bis[(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methyl]ferrocene-²N⁴:N^4'}ethanolcobalt(II)] bis(perchlorate) ethanol trisolvate], {[CoFe₂(C₈H₈N₃)₄(C₂H₆O)(H₂O)](ClO₄)₂·3C₆H₆O}_n or {[Co(btmf)₂(EtOH)(H₂O)](ClO₄)₂·3EtOH}_n, where btmf is the ferrocene-containing ligand, the Co^II ion is six-coordinated by four N atoms from btmf ligands, one O atom from a water molecule and one O atom from an ethanol molecule. The btmf ligands connect the Co^II ions to form layers and these layers are organized by hydrogen bonds, expanding the crystal structure to a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
