Abstract: The title compound, C11H16N2, is an important intermediate in the preparation of the antidepressant mirtazapine. The piperazine ring has a regular chair conformation and the benzene ring is attached at an equatorial position. In the crystal structure, there is only a weak N-H
N hydrogen bond.
