(Bipyridyl-²N,N')bis(⁵-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)(trifluoromethanesulfonato-O)cerium(III)

Abstract: The title compound, [Ce(CF₃SO₃)(C₁₀H₁₅)₂(C₁₀H₈N₂)], crystallizes as a bent metallocene with an inner-sphere trifluoromethanesulfonate ligand [Cg1-Ce-Cg2 = 138.91 (1) Å; Cg1 and Cg2 are the centroids of the cyclopentadienyl rings]. The pentamethylcyclopentadienyl rings have a slightly staggered conformation. The bipyridine ligand has an N-C-C-N torsion angle of -8.2 (7)°.
