2N2,N2')nickel(II)]-
-carbonato-
3O,O':O''] trihydrate]Abstract: In the title polymer, {[Ni(CO3)(C10H9N3)]·3H2O}n, each NiII atom is coordinated by three O atoms from two carbonate ligands and two N atoms from one bis(2-pyridyl)amine ligand, and has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The compound forms infinite chains via carbonate ligands bridging the [bis(2-pyridyl)amine]nickel(II) units which are further linked into neutral layers through N-H
O(carbonate) intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions. The water molecules form an infinite lamellar structure with an R55(10) graph-set motif. They occupy the space between the chains and are connected through O-H
O hydrogen bonds to the carbonate ligands. Furthermore, weak offset
-
stackings stabilize the packing network [the centroid-to-centroid distance is 3.674 (1) Å and the interplanar distance 3.438 Å].
