Bis[4'-(3,5-dibromophenyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine]ruthenium(II) bis(hexafluorophosphate) acetonitrile disolvate

D. Chartrand, I. Theobald and G. S. Hanan

Abstract: The title compound, [Ru(C21H13Br2N3)2](PF6)2·2CH2CN, was synthesized to investigate its photophysical properties. The molecule and the crystal structure are both non-centrosymmetric. The Ru atom is in a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. Intermolecular interactions are dominated by [pi]-stacking interactions between aromatic rings, with centroid-centroid distances between 3.7 and 3.9 Å. No bromine-bromine interactions are observed.
