Abstract: In the title compound, [Cu(C₁₆H₁₄N₃O)Cl], the Cu^II ion exhibits a distorted tetrahedral geometry. The coordination environment of the Cu^II ion is composed of one benzimidazole N atom, one imino N atom, one phenolato O atom and one Cl^- anion. Intermolecular N-HO hydrogen bonds play key roles in stabilizing the crystal packing.
