Abstract: The Hg atom in the title compound, (C₁₃H₁₆N₂)[HgBr₂I₂], is coordinated by four halogen atoms in a tetrahedral geometry. The four halogen atoms are each disordered between I and Br, with the I:Br ratios being 0.228 (3):0.772 (3), 0.333 (6):0.667 (6), 0.346 (6):0.654 (6) and 0.843 (7):0.157 (7).
