Abstract: In the title compound, [Hg(C₅₂H₄₂N₄O₂)](PF₆)₂·3.5CH₃CN, the linear coordination geometry of the Hg ion [C-Hg-C = 174.4 (2)°] is formed by two C atoms from the imidazole fragments [Hg-C = 2.072 (6) and 2.090 (6) Å]. The crystal packing exhibits weak intermolecular C-HF and C-HN hydrogen bonds.
