Abstract: The title compound, Na+·C7H6BrClNO2S-·1.5H2O, crystallizes with two cations, two anions and three water molecules in the asymmetric unit; its structure is similar to that of sodium N-bromobenzenesulfonamidate and sodium N-bromo-4-chlorobenzenesulfonamidate. The sodium ion shows octahedral coordination by three O atoms of water molecules and by three sulfonyl O atoms of three different N-bromo-4-chloro-2-methylbenzenesulfonamide anions. There is no interaction between the N atoms and sodium ions in the structure. The S-N distance of 1.584 (4) Å is consistent with an S=N double bond. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H
·N hydrogen bonds.
