Abstract: The solution reaction of Zn2+ with 5-aminoisoquinoline and NaN3 afforded the mononuclear title complex, [Zn(N3)2(C9H8N2)2]. The azide anions and the 5-aminoisoquinoline molecules act as monodentate ligands, resulting in a slightly distorted ZnN4 tetrahedron. A network of weak N-H
N hydrogen bonds helps to consolidate the crystal packing.
