Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {(C2H10N2)[Cu(C10H2O8)]·2.5H2O}n, contains one cuprate(II)-[mu]4-benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylate anion, one ethylenediammonium cation and two and a half water molecules. The Cu atom is four-coordinated by four O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylate anions. Intra- and intermolecular O-H...O and N-H...O hydrogen bonds in the formation of a supramolecular structure. One of the water molecules is disordered equally over two sites.
