Abstract: The substituted bipyrazole heterocycle in the title compound, {[CdI₂(C₁₀H₁₂N₄)]·CH₄O}_n, links CdI₂ units into a helical chain which runs parallel to the b axis of the monoclinic unit cell. One of the two -NH sites forms a hydrogen bond with a solvent methanol molecule. The Cd^II atom is in a slightly distorted tetrahedral coordination environment.
