Diaquabis[(2-nitrophenylsulfinyl)acetato-O]copper(II) tetrahydrate

Abstract: The centrosymmetric title compound, [Cu(C₈H₆NO₅S)₂(H₂O)₂]·4H₂O, has a four-coordinate Cu^II ion in a square-planar geometry defined by two carboxylate O atoms from two (2-nitrophenylsulfinyl)acetate groups and two O atoms from two water molecules. The molecules are linked together by intermolecular hydrogen bonds involving the water molecules, resulting in a layer network.
