Acetonitrile{2-[3-(dimethylamino)propyliminomethyl]-4-nitrophenolato-³N,N',O}(thiocyanato-N)copper(II)

Abstract: In the title mononuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(C₁₂H₁₆N₃O₃)(NCS)(C₂H₃N)], the Cu^II atom is five-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry, with one O and two N atoms of the Schiff-base ligand and one N atom of the thiocyanate ligand defining the basal plane. The apical position is occupied by the N atom of the acetonitrile molecule. The structure is stabilized by intramolecular C-HN and intermolecular C-HO hydrogen-bonding interactions.
