Di--chlorido-bis{[(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-ylmethyl)dibenzylamine]chloridocadmium(II)} ethanol disolvate

Abstract: The title compound, [Cd₂Cl₄(C₂₂H₂₁N₃)₂]·2C₂H₆O, is a centrosymmetric dimer. The Cd^II cation shows a distorted tetragonal-pyramidal coordination geometry formed by three Cl^- anions and two N atoms. The Cd-Cl_terminal bond distance of 2.4591 (7) Å is much shorter than the Cd-Cl_bridging bond distances of 2.5604 (6) and 2.6132 (6) Å. The ethanol solvent molecule is hydrogen bonded with the dimeric complex via O-HCl hydrogen bonds.
