Di-[mu]-chlorido-bis{[(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-ylmethyl)dibenzylamine]chloridocadmium(II)} ethanol disolvate

G.-J. Ping, J.-F. Ma and L.-P. Zhang

Abstract: The title compound, [Cd2Cl4(C22H21N3)2]·2C2H6O, is a centrosymmetric dimer. The CdII cation shows a distorted tetragonal-pyramidal coordination geometry formed by three Cl- anions and two N atoms. The Cd-Clterminal bond distance of 2.4591 (7) Å is much shorter than the Cd-Clbridging bond distances of 2.5604 (6) and 2.6132 (6) Å. The ethanol solvent molecule is hydrogen bonded with the dimeric complex via O-H...Cl hydrogen bonds.
