Diiodidobis[(E)-1-(2-pyridylmethylene)thiosemicarbazone-S]mercury(II)

Abstract: The reaction of mercury(II) iodide with (E)-1-(2-pyridylmethylene)thiosemicarbazone afforded the title complex, [HgI₂(C₇H₈N₄S)₂]. The Hg^II centre, which lies on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by two S atoms and two Cl atoms in a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. N-HI and N-HN hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.
