S]mercury(II)Abstract: The reaction of mercury(II) iodide with (E)-1-(2-pyridylmethylene)thiosemicarbazone afforded the title complex, [HgI2(C7H8N4S)2]. The HgII centre, which lies on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by two S atoms and two Cl atoms in a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. N-H
I and N-H
N hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.
