Pentaaqua(1-vinyl-1H-imidazole-N³)cobalt(II) sulfate

Abstract: In the title compound, [Co(C₅H₆N₂)(H₂O)₅]SO₄, each Co^II ion is coordinated by one N atom from a 1-vinyl-1H-imidazole ligand and five water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, the cations and anions are linked by O-HO hydrogen bonds into two-dimensional layers parallel to the ab plane, with the 1-vinyl-1H-imidazole ligands protruding.
