(E,E)-4,4',6,6'-Tetrachloro-2,2'-(1,1'-azinodiethylene)diphenol

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₈H₁₆Cl₄N₂O₂, was synthesized by the reaction of 1-(3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxyphenyl)propan-1-one with hydrazine hydrate. The molecule has a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the N-N bond. The crystal structure is stabilized by intramolecular O-HN and intermolecular C-HCl hydrogen bonds.
