catena-Poly[copper(I)--[2-(3-pyridyl)benzimidazolato-²N:N']]

Abstract: The Cu atom in the title compound, [Cu(C₁₂H₈N₃)]_n, is linked to adjacent benzimidazolate N atoms in an almost linear CuN₂ geometry. The ligands link the Cu atoms into an infinite chain. The N atom and a C-H group of the pendant pyridine ring are disordered equally over two sites.
