(Adamantane-1,3-dicarboxylato-O)aquabis(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')cobalt(II) tetrahydrate

Abstract: The Co^II atom in the racemic title compound, [Co(C₁₂H₁₄O₄)(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂(H₂O)]·4H₂O, is chelated by two N-heterocycles; it is also linked datively to a water molecule and covalently to a single O atom of the dicarboxylate dianion to yield a cis-CoO₂N₄ octahedral geometry. A plausible O-HO hydrogen-bonding scheme results in the component species being linked into a chain.
