Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C₁₂H₂₄N₂)₂[Ni(NCS)₆]·2H₂O, comprises one cation, one half-anion and one water molecule. The anion lies on an inversion centre and shows the expected octahedral coordination with only minor deviations from the ideal geometry. Intermolecular O-HS, O-HN, C-HS, C-HO and C-HN hydrogen-bonding interactions link all components into a three-dimensional extended network.
