Abstract: In the title compound, [Ni(C₁₄H₁₆N₂)₂(H₂O)₂]Cl₂·2[NiCl₂(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂], the dication, whose Ni atom is chelated by a chiral ligand, lies about a pseudo-inversion site. The dication uses its coordinated water molecules to form hydrogen bonds to the chloride counterion as well as to a coordinated Cl atom of the neutral complex. The three Ni atoms exist in octahedral geometries.
