(2,2'-Bipyridine-²N,N')[3-(2-oxidobenzylideneamino)propanoato-³O,N,O']copper(II) dihydrate

Abstract: In the title compound, [Cu(C₁₀H₉NO₃)(C₁₀H₈N₂)]·2H₂O, the Cu^II atom is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The basal positions are occupied by three donor atoms from the tridentate Schiff base ligand and by one N atom from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. The apical position is occupied by the other N atom of the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. The solvent water molecules link adjacent complex molecules through O-HO hydrogen bonds into a chain running along the [01] direction.
