(2E)-1-(4-Methylphenyl)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₆H₁₃NO₃, crystallizes with two nearly planar independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The molecules exist as pseudo-inversion-related pairs and each of the independent molecules forms sheets approximately parallel to the ab plane which are alternately stacked along the c axis. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-HO intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions.
