Abstract: The title compound, C16H13NO3, crystallizes with two nearly planar independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The molecules exist as pseudo-inversion-related pairs and each of the independent molecules forms sheets approximately parallel to the ab plane which are alternately stacked along the c axis. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H
O intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions.
