Abstract: The title compound, C15H25Cl, was semi-synthesized from natural essential oils of Cedrus atlantica. The stereochemistry has been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The asymmetric unit contains two chemically identical molecules. Each is built up from two fused six- and seven-membered rings. In both molecules, the six-membered ring has a perfect chair conformation, whereas the seven-membered ring displays a twist-chair conformation. In one molecule, the seven-membered ring is partially disordered with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.52:0.48.
