-nitrato]Abstract: The structure of the title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(NO3)3(C10H8N2)]n, previously reported by McFadden & McPhail [J. Chem. Soc. Dalton Trans. (1975), pp. 1993-1998], has been redetermined, leading to a more precise result. The crystal structure consists of a zigzag chain formed by the polymer [Cu(NO3)3(phen)]n (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline). The CuII atom has a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment consisting of two N atoms of the phen ligand, two O atoms of different nitrate ligands, and one O atom of a nitrate anion. The compound forms a one-dimensional chain using nitrate as an end-to-end bridging ligand.
