Bis[4'-(4-methylphenyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine-³N,N',N'']manganese(II) bis(perchlorate)

Abstract: In the title complex, [Mn(C₂₂H₁₇N₃)₂](ClO₄)₂, the MnN₆ coordination geometry is distorted octahedral, involving the six N atoms of two 4'-(4-methylphenyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (ttp) ligands. The two chelated ttp planes are almost perpendicular, with a dihedral angle of 89.1 (5)°. The packing involves intermolecular C-HO hydrogen bonds between the ttp ligands and perchlorate anions. The latter are disordered over two positions, one with almost equal occupancy and the other in a ratio of ca 0.7:0.3.
