Abstract: The title compound, [Ni(C11H12N3OS2)2], is a six-coordinate NiII complex that is similar to other bis-tridentate N,N',S-coordinated Schiff bases, but in this case an acetyl substituent adjacent to the coordinated pyridyl N atom elongates the Ni-N bond by more than 0.06 Å relative to the complex where no substituent is present. A related 6-methyl-substituted Ni complex also shows a similar Ni-N bond elongation.
