{[(5-Bromo-2-oxidophenyl)methyleneamino]methanesulfonato-³O,N,O'}(methanol-O)(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')cadmium(II)

Abstract: The title compound, [Cd(C₈H₆BrNO₄S)(C₁₂H₈N₂)(CH₄O)], incorporating a Schiff base formed by aminomethanesulfonic acid and 5-bromosalicylaldehyde, was synthesized in a water-methanol solution. In the structure, the Cd^II atom is six-coordinated by one O atom from a methanol molecule, two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, and one N and two O atoms from the Schiff base in a distorted octahedral coordination geometry. A one-dimensional chain structure is formed via C-HO hydrogen bonds.
