Abstract: The title compound, {[Li(C₇H₈N₄)(H₂O)₂]Cl}_n, has a polymeric structure with Li⁺ tetrahedrally coordinated by two N atoms of bis(imidazol-1-yl)methane and two water molecules, connected by O-HCl hydrogen bonds. The compound was prepared by a one-step reaction of LiCl and bis(imidazol-1-yl)methane in acetonitrile.
