Abstract: In the title compound, [Co(C₁₈H₁₈N₂O₄)(H₂O)], the Co^II atom is coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry defined by two O atoms and two N atoms in the basal positions, and one water molecule in the apical position. The Co^II atom and water O atom lie on a symmetry plane defining C_s molecular symmetry. In the crystal structure, the ethylenediamine group is disordered over two positions with equal occupancy. Molecules are linked into chains via O-HO hydrogen bonds.
