Crystal growth and redetermination of strontium nitride iodide, Sr2NI

A. S. Bailey, D. H. Gregory, P. Hubberstey and C. Wilson

Abstract: Single crystals of Sr2NI have been grown for the first time. Redetermination from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data confirms the anti-[alpha]-NaFeO2 structure, previously found from powder diffraction data [Bowman, Smith & Gregory (2006). J. Solid State Chem. 179, 130-139]. Iodide ions occupy octahedral voids between layers of edge-sharing NSr6 octahedra.
