Abstract: The title compound, [ZnCl2(C2H5NO2)2]·2H2O, crystallizes with one half-molecule in the asymmetric unit and a twofold rotation axis passing through the Zn atom. The glycine molecules are zwitterionic. The eight water molecules present in the unit cell mediate the formation of a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network in the crystal structure.
