2-(4-Methylphenyl)-1H-benzimidazole

Abstract: In the title compound, C₁₄H₁₂N₂, the benzimidazole and tolyl groups are not coplanar, exibiting a dihedral angle of 27.5 (3)°. The structure is held intact through N-HN hydrogen bonds and - stacking interactions [perpendicular distance 3.504 Å and centroid-to-centroid distance 4.080 Å], displaying a two-dimensional supramolecular array.
