Abstract: The molecular structure of the title compound, [Ir₂I₂(C₈H₁₂)₂], has C₂ symmetry. The dinuclear structure features two bridging I atoms and a bent geometry for the Ir₂(-I)₂ core, with a hinge angle of 95.26 (1)°.
