catena-Poly[[diaquanickel(II)]--2-hydroxyphosphonatoacetato]

Abstract: The title compound, [Ni{HO₃PCH(OH)CO₂}(H₂O)₂]_n, was prepared by a hydrothermal reaction. The octahedral coordination geometry of Ni^II is made up of one phosphonate O atom, one hydroxyl O atom, two carboxylate O atoms and two water molecules. This architecture is further stabilized by a number of O-HO hydrogen bonds involving the protonated hydroxyl groups, carboxylate O atoms, a phosphonate O atom and coordinated water molecules.
