Abstract: The title compound, C24H20N4O2 , is an unsymmetrical Schiff base which has potential as a hexadentate ligand. There is a relatively strong O-H
N intramolecular hydrogen bond. The X-ray crystallographic results show that, despite the presence of the N4O2 group, the title compound does not exhibit a conformation conducive to hexadentate binding. The three pyridine rings show a propeller-like arrangement.
