catena-Poly[silver(I)-[mu]-1,4-di-3-pyridyl-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene hexafluoridophosphate-acetonitrile (1/1)]

G. A. Broker and E. R. T. Tiekink

Abstract: The asymmetric unit in the polymeric title compound, [Ag(C12H10N4)]n·nPF6·nC2H3N, comprises an Ag cation, two half 3-pyridinealdazine (3-PA) molecules, each disposed about a centre of inversion, a hexafluoridophosphate anion and an acetonitrile solvent molecule. The Ag atoms bond to two N atoms and the bridging 3-PA ligands lead to the formation of zigzag chains that are linked into a layer structure via weakly bridging acetonitrile molecules and argentophilic interactions [Ag...Ag = 3.2590 (15) Å]. The layers stack along the b axis and are interspersed by layers of hexafluoridophosphate anions. Various C-H...F and C-H...N interactions help to consolidate the structure.
