Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C₁₂H₂₈N₂O₄)[PtCl₆]·2H₂O, contains one half-cation, one half-anion and one water molecule, both ions lying on inversion centres. The Pt ion has an octahedral coordination. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-HCl, N-HO and O-HO hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supramolecular structure.
