2O,O')triaquasamarium(III)Abstract: The title complex, [Sm(C4H6NO3)3(H2O)3], was prepared by reacting samarium(III) carbonate with N-acetylglycine in an aqueous medium. The SmIII atom is coordinated by nine O atoms, six of them belonging to the three carboxylate groups of the ligands and three to the water molecules. The coordination geometry can be described in terms of a 4,4,4-tricapped triangular prism. The molecule lies on a threefold rotation axis.
