4-{[6-(4,4'-Bipyridin-1-ium-1-yl)-2-(4-carboxyanilino)-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino}benzoate monohydrate

Abstract: Reaction of 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyanilino)-1,3,5-triazine with 4,4'-bipyridine yields the zwitterionic title compound, C₂₇H₁₉N₇O₄·H₂O. The zwitterionic form is confirmed by the the C-O distances of the carboxylate group. The crystal structure involves intermolecular N-HO, O-HO and O-HN hydrogen bonds.
