Abstract: In the title compound, C₁₄H₁₄O₄, which was synthesized in order to compare its NMR spectroscopic data with those of similar silicon compounds, the incorporation of chelating hydroxyl groups into the parent rigid bicyclic framework ensures that the resulting six-membered chelate ring has a boat conformation.
