Abstract: In the title monomeric compound, [Co(N3)2(C10H8N2)2]ClO4, the CoIII ion has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by four N atoms from two chelating bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from azide groups, with the two azide groups in cis positions. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H
O and C-H
N hydrogen bonding.
