catena-Poly[silver(I)--2-phenylimidazolato-²N:N']

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ag(C₉H₇N₂)]_n, contains two independent Ag^I ions and two 2-phenylimidazolate (L) ligands. Each Ag^I centre is linearly coordinated by two N atoms [Ag-N 2.092 (3)-2.097 (3) Å]. Ligands L bridge Ag^I ions into polymeric chains parallel to the c axis, with AgAg separations of 6.232 (2) and 6.254 (2) Å. No interactions between the Ag centres from neighbouring chains are observed.
