catena-Poly[[(4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline)lead(II)]--fumarato]

Abstract: In the title compound, [Pb(C₄H₂O₄)(C₂₄H₁₆N₂)]_n, the Pb^II atom is chelated by 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (L) and also bonded to four O atoms from two fumarate dianions to yield an irregular PbN₂O₄ coordination polyhedron. The centrosymmetric fumarate ligands bridge neighboring Pb^II atoms to generate a chain structure. Aromatic - stacking between L ligands in adjacent chains [minimum centroid-centroid separation = 3.462 (3) Å] leads to a two-dimensional supramolecular array.
