Bis{4-[4-(dimethylamino)styryl]-1-ethylpyridinium} di--iodido-bis[iodidocuprate(II)]

Abstract: The title compound, (C₁₇H₂₁N₂)₂[Cu₂I₄], consists of an organic cation, 4-[4-(dimethylamino)stryl]-1-ethylpyrdinium, and an inorganic anion, [Cu₂I₄]^2-. The Cu(I) atom exhibits a trigonal coordination. The anions form discrete centrosymmetric dimers about inversion centers and are surrounded by the cations.
