Bis(-4-formyl-2-methoxyphenolato)bis[aquachloridozinc(II)] dihydrate

Abstract: In the centrosymmetric dinuclear molecule of the title compound, [Zn₂(C₈H₇O₃)₂Cl₂(H₂O)₂], the Zn ions are bridged by two phenolate O atoms, with a ZnZn distance of 3.1216 (6) Å, forming a Zn₂O₂ four-membered ring. Each Zn coordination is completed by a further bidentate 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde ion, one chloride ion and one water molecule. The water molecules are involved in hydrogen bonds, which stabilize the crystal structure.
