N4)mercury(II) dihydrateAbstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [HgBr2(C5H4N2O2)2]·2H2O, contains one half-molecule and one water molecule. The HgII ion, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is four-coordinated by two N atoms of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid ligands and two bromide ions, forming a highly distorted tetrahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-H
O and O-H
N hydrogen bonds link the molecules.
